Start Your New Eating Plan during National Nutrition Month

nutritionP4nutritionP3Everyone needs a little push toward a healthier lifestyle and January’s resolutions may already have been forgotten. However, here is another occasion that might be a place to start – March is National Nutrition Month, according to Eat Right Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

Eating Right the Informed Way

With just a week left in the month, there is no time like right now to start making those small changes that can end up becoming a dramatic lifestyle shift toward eating right, sleeping more, exercising daily and balancing your life.

Now in its 40th year, this year’s theme for National Nutrition Month is “Eat Right, Your Way, Every Day.” The focus this year is on showing people that eating right is not a regimented plan with only specific menus to choose from; it’s about personalizing good eating habits – the right foods and the right portion of that food.

nutritionP2This is so you can still eat what you personally like but do include enough fruits and vegetables to give your body the fuel it needs to achieve optimum health, energy, and happiness.

Making Better Choicies

And, eating right doesn’t mean going without; it just means balancing out all foods across the various categories and including more fresh fruit and vegetables while keeping carbs, good fats, and sodium on the menu but in much smaller quantities.

It is about making informed choices and switching out trips through the drive-thru and donuts at the coffee shop for a better meal or snack.

Our Bountiful Selection

At Peoples Flowers Shops, we are doing our part to help you eat better and deliver delicious, healthy gift basket selections to your friends, family, and colleagues. We are adding new selections as we find exceptional partners who can bring us the freshest fruit possible, including organic selections. Our gift baskets offer all types of fruit, artisanal cheese, gourmet foods, and, yes, even chocolate (within reason!).nutritionP1

After all, good eating does not mean doing without certain foods; it is simply about balancing out your selection and keeping portion sizes of certain foods to a minimum. A happy, healthy life is not about doing without it; it’s about balance and bountiful choices.

By offering a wider selection of fresh fruit baskets and those with a healthier selection, we are encouraging our customers to reach for what is often quite delicious. As the weather changes and warms up, there is nothing quite as refreshing as a juicy orange, apple, or grapes.

There is never the right moment to get started with small changes to your diet and lifestyle. Just start now with something small and keep it going until you remake your eating choices, your exercise regimen, and your sleep cycle. Just think how you will feel by next March when National Nutrition Month rolls around again and you weigh less, feel better, and smile more brightly!
